Description
This is my contest entry for burda’s pink & red contest! I was excited/motivated to do the contest because I typically wear black and grey, and this gave me a chance to work with some color! The dress is a hodge podge of stuff lying around the house, the top used to be a curtain, the underskirt netting was leftover from a tutu I made my daughter, the solid pink flowers were a previous experiment, and all the buttons were lying around all over my floor! I made a matching hair accessory, and I embellished some vintage gloves with (mis) matching buttons. I used a few decorative stitches in order to demonstrate thread as a feature of the dress. I didn’t use a pattern, rather just kind of pieced it all together, and I had a ton of fun in the process.

i could definitely post a tutorial, i just need a few weeks to get around to it (super busy time for me right now!)…but i’d say in 2-3 weeks or so, that’d probably be enough time to get around to doing it right.

Oh this is gorgeous, and so much fun! I love the fact that you’ve used scraps and pieces from around the house and put them together to a dress filled with neat little details! I love the gloves, the buttons, the flowers, the button closure at the back, the hair accessory… And great with your artwork also! I’m voting for you!

It looks as if you have put allot of thought in to this dress, the material and colours match so well the style and colour suits you and if you do always were dark colours you really should think of wearing more colour. The work on this dress is lovely,and I think you are in with a good chance in the comp.I know how you feel about putting your work on display but look at the comment’s you’ve had good luck . (Curtains I cant believe it just imagine what you could do with material of your choice.) Bubbley74
