Faith.Hope.Love.Cure.Heart. This dress was in honor of my husband’s late grandma, Mimi, who died in 2008 from breast cancer and for everyone else who is battling cancer, beat cancer, for the families, the nurses and doctors involved, the support groups; this is for everyone involved. I’m a nurse and once was an oncology nurse for a brief period. People battling cancer are very strong people especially children. My prayers go out to everyone. I currently work on a heart floor and patients having heart attacks are getting younger and younger. Don’t forget: prevention and check ups is the first line of defense against cancer & heart disease.
Finally my pink and red!!! I was soo excited to see this challenge. This dress is made from fabric I had stashed away. I wish it was all silk but all I had was polyester. oh well. I originally made a skirt but realized it would look better as a dress so, I took the circle skirt and added rows of alternating pale pink/red scallops that were machine zig-zagged edged with coats & clark atom red and pale pink thread. The bottom part of the dress has a red ruffle around it. Then I added the top part of the dress. It’s a deep-v in the front and back, pale pink for the bottom and red on top. The pale pink fabric has the same zig-zagged edge scallop on it. I hand sewed a black silk waist band around it. It has in invisible zipper on the side. The bottom part is lined in red non-static fabric. The top can be worn a couple ways. The red is not sewn down so you can scrunch it up, let it down, or have it wide. I added a detachable pink flower with red zig-zagged edge in honor of breast cancer and heart awareness. I did not use a pattern for this dress. I used directions for the circle skirt from a book called “sew what! skirts”. The scallop I traced the bottom of a small paper plate. I can’t wait to wear this dress out!!!!! Hope you like it, I know I do!!!!
I wish I had better photos!!! Solo photo session again!
Red poly georgette, pink poly chiffon, black silk dupioni for the waist band, red poly non-static liner, coats & clark atom red zipper, coats & clark pale pink and atom red thread (lots and lots of it), hook & eye closure, and love.

Thank you. No not really just a circle skirt with rows of scallops. Top was just drafted as I went.

This is by far my favorite entry in the contest. In fact, if I saw this in a store, I would buy it in a heartbeat. It’s wonderful that someone like you is on a site like this, to inspire so many others out there. :)

thank you for the nice comment. You could wear it. When it comes to fashion and if you like it shouldn’t matter what others think as long as you feel cute and beautiful ;.>
