I had this burda pattern for a while now but I have been looking for the right time and the right fabric to make it… I was in the mood for it a few weeks ago and i started cutting! Its a Burda magazine issue 5/08 pattern 114. The dress is made of so many layers of fine chiffon… They have used a printed layer first, then backed it with plain chiffon, and added the lining and interfacing (were needed). The top part is gathered across and the skirt is very flawy…
I had a lot of plain pink chiffon lying around so I made the dress in plain chiffon only… I bought matching pink lining to back the chiffon pieces and added some satin for lining the bodice of the dress. The original pattern used ordinary lining, but I decided to go with some lovely pink satin.

Oh my gosh! I have been wanting to make this dress for ages, I’m so glad I saw your version, it has renewed my desire to make it…well maybe when Winter is finished :) I could never quite find the right fabric either but I shall go on the hunt so when Summer returns I will be ready, it will be perfect for the Christmas party season. You did a beautiful job, well done xx

Wow, very impressive! It must be a lot of work with all those layers and gatherings, and also, I always find that chiffon is very difficult to handle. I liked this pattern when I first saw it, but I never found the courage to try it out.

Yes chiffon was a bit hard to work with but I had it in my fabric stash for a while and it was time to do something with it… since it was crinkled chiffon, I thought this pattern will be perfect…. I think I won’t work with chiffon for a while… Still getting over this one! LOL!
Thanks for your comment :)
