Description

So I found this beautiful cherry fabric for $5 a yard and I had this idea in my head of a center front gathered tunic top I could wear with leggings. I made a muslin and it needed a few changes, so I was glad I did.

I had done bias tape a few times before, but it had been awhile. Usually I take the easy route and line everything, but I didn’t want to make this too hot or changed the drape. Well this slinky fabric that refuses to press under an iron was a PAIN to make bias tape out of and I think the binding job isn’t that great to boot.

But as soon as I started cutting into this fabric I feared it would look like pajamas. I thought that the entire time I constructed it. So does it look like pajamas? I can’t tell anymore, I convinced myself it would look like it the entire time I made it. Atleast I’ll have a lovely pajama top, right?

Drafted this tunic from my sloper, bias binding and all raw edges are serged.

Material Notes

Some poly/spandexy stretch blend.

Thanks! Yeah, I really like it, but I think I’m going to have to bring up the hem or I might never wear it in fear that people think I have my jammies on. :P

It’s very pretty and looks great on you! ( I did think “nightie” when I first looked at it…)

Yeah, I’m seriously considering hemming it up about four inches. I think that might take away a bit of the nightie look.
