"Pink and Red" Bombshell Dress (Contest Entry)

Description
A baby-pink velveteen bustier sits above a red skirt that consists of layers of red satin and tulle. A deep-red velveteen obi ties at the waist with satin straps that can be adjusted and styled as desired.
I used the crazy-quilt stitch on my sewing machine extensively on this garment. Pink and red rows of the fern stitch decorate the edges of the bustier, while all the satin layers of the skirt were hemmed using the same stitch in red metallic thread. The obi also has rows of fern stitching using deep magenta sulky thread.
Material Notes
Hand-dyed baby pink and red cotton velveteen (the bustier and obi), polyester red satin, nylon tulle in hot pink and red, sulky threads in baby pink and magenta, metallic thread in red. Polyester thread used in main body construction.

It’s amazing how this dress started out looking completely different in my head compared to how it came out. I really like the silhouette, it’s very different from what I normally do with how form-fitting the skirt is, but the shape is actually really flattering. I think I will try to do another skirt in this style for day-wear.
