I found this pattern for $1 at my local Salvos store (second hand/thrift store). The pattern is from 1951, McCall’s 8530 (http://vintagepatterns.wikia.com/wiki/McCall’s_8530_A – I even made it the same colour as one of the ones on the pattern envelope!). It has cutaway shoulders and self-covered buttons, which I’ve never made before, but were actually very easy. The button holes are hand done, although they’re identical in stitch length, one of them is a bit tight to get done and undone, but it should soften and loosen with time.
Given the colour and the vintage-retro flavour of the top (and that Pina Coladas are a 50s cocktail), and my love of puns, the name for this top was obvious!
