I made this dress for my first mate piggy costume from the Pigs in Space sketch from the Muppet Show. I used a vintage house dress pattern as a guide, but I made this 3 years ago when I didn’t know much about sewing, so I just winged it. I updated it this year with the emblem, ears, space collar, and gloves (and made my boyfriend a matching space tunic).
I was just going to purchase the leggings, but after looking at the insane prices online, I went to the local fabric store and found this stretchy silk. I cut the Carol leggings pattern extra big since it didn’t have as much stretch as the recommended fabric, and I didn’t want to risk them coming out too small. They are super silky and soft and I even slept in them that night.
We won first place at our local bar.
The purple fabric is some vintage blend from my stash. Silk lycra for the legging. Felt for the ears and emblem. Silver lame’ for the gloves and accessories.
