My first macaron dress. Pattern from Colette Pattern. I learnt how to sew an invisible zipper with this dress and love the hidden pockets behind the pleats.
I wanted some contrast so I used a smaller gingham fabric for the waistband, which I also widened, as I found the original a little narrow.
Cotton fabric, invisible zipper

This is the best version of this dress I’ve seen. This kind of style hasn’t really appealed to me until now, so thanks for opening up my mind!

So pretty! I like how you carried the white up from the gingham on the yoke/sleeve portion instead of straight colorblocking, which I’ve noticed, can look pretty harsh on this dress. This is definitely on my list too (I think it’s on everyone’s :) )! I’ve had an idea for the fabrics for ages, but don’t have them… or the pattern yet. Better get on that!

Ooo this is inspiring me. The macaron dress is next on my list to make, the only thing I can’t decide is the fabric. I am loving the smaller ginham at the waist. I am very nervous about the invisible zipper though, and the sleeves.

I took quite some time to decide on the fabric too…the possibilities are endless! The sleeves were not difficult as the instruction was very clear. For invisible zipper, I followed the tute at Sew Serendipity http://blog.sewserendipity.com/2009/08/dont-fear-invisible-zipper.html
It was easy after some practicing. Hope to see yours soon :)

I love this! The color is great and I like how you incorporated the smaller gingham.
