Description

After coming home from four months studying in Rome I was having sewing machine withdrawal and wanted to sew something for my cousin’s wedding. I modeled this dress off something I saw on Modcloth ( “http://www.modcloth.com/Womens/Dresses/-Elegant-Speech-Dress-in-Noir” ) using Butterick BP214 as the base for the bodice. It’s got a bunch of problems since I made i in one day: my zipper wasn’t long enough, the pleats wouldn’t lie flat, the hem isn’t terribly even, but still, I love the way it turned out!

ps. Pickin’ Flies is a dance my dad always does at weddings, and it looks absolutely ridiculous. Sorry my only head on image is blurry!

Love your dress, nice work with the pleats and the choose of the color! I bet your father can´t wait to dance with you ;)

I like the bodice of this dress – it’s interesting.
