Start your day with some swing, make your walk look lighter, your mood brighter by creating yourself the Phi-Hong skirt. BUT! Make sure to wear an underskirt! This skirt is so light and swingy because all panels start right at the waist and hence your underwear may peak through!
You will achieve best swinging results by using a light fabric, maybe even two layers for additional effect. We doubled the panels by making each in a charmeuse and a chiffon and placing them on top of each other.

I re-examined the PDF I purchased and I am perplexed on how to get the ‘plus size’ version. It says to ‘print with thin margins’ in the instructions but I see no way to do that. How do we get the plus size?

i wish there were some member creations up for this. I’d love to see what it looks like in real life. :)

Love the airy-floaty-flary skirt =^_^= and the colour as well. Perfect for summer!

It says “plus size available”, but I’m not seeing it. Did I miss it somewhere? (I can always add the two extra inches I need in the waist)

So adorable! I love it! I am definitely getting it! Hopefully I can figure out how to deal with the high slits….not too keen on that.

Absolutely gorgeous! I wish I could rewind summer so I’d have this flowy skirt to wear. And so it shall be added to the never ending list of things to sew!
Aug 26, 2009, 04.34 PMby pintucks
Take a look at the pdf instructions with diagrams. It appears that this skirt could have normal ‘side seams’ if the openings at side were an issue. Also, the diagrams make it more clear: this is essentially a straight skirt pattern with shaped godet inserts at each side seam. That gives it the smoother front with flowing sides look.

just beautiful, flowing, and just plain elagant.

s0mmer…I was thinking the same thing. I was just about to order it until I read the description. I don’t sew that often so when I buy a pattern I would prefer not to figurec/alculate/alter/adjust. I just want to sew it and wear it as soon as possible. I’ll wait until I see how everyone else’s come out.

Surely I’m not the only one who doesn’t understand this description: “Make sure to wear an underskirt! This skirt is so light and swingy because all panels start right at the waist and hence your underwear may peak through!” Where else would a skirt start? Perhaps they mean the panels are slit all the way to the waist? Or is the fabric sheer so underwear will show through? Doesn’t this site have an editor? Overlap the fabric a little more or wear a slip. You have heard of them, right?

I had the same question, but downloaded the instructions (for free) and analyzed the pattern and the sewing by the drawings and text and I think that the (more than one) slits go all the way to the waist, so basically the skirt opens like everywhere. (that’s what I understood with my a bit limited English).

This is really cute— and I know I have at least two pieces of fabric in my stash that would be perfect for them (unfortunately, two pieces that wouldn’t go well enough together!) So if I can figure my way around the potential to flash people (would NOT go over well in my class of predominantly middle-school boys!), I think I’ll have to give it a try.

I think I would just wear a nice eye-catching sexy panty underneath.. (and wear it at not so windy events) so as not to ruin the swingy effect with a bulky piece of fabric.
Aug 24, 2009, 11.36 PMby oscarthegrouch108
maybe instead of wearing a separate skirt underneath, line it with a simple (light weight) circle skirt? it would take some figuring, but i think that it’s doable.

I think it would be cute in contrasting colors. Perhaps even black with Hot pink underneath..
