A Military style hat based on a 19th C Kepi.
This is a base of hessian buckram covered with Barathea on the top and Melton on the sides, with decorations of gold braid. It’s lined with bump curtain interfacing and cotton mix twill. The peak is hessiabn buckram and vinyl, edged with gold braid.
Very tough to sew! Especially through the front where the peak is glued to the body of the hat!

I just finished reading about your ordeal! What a bunch of work!!! You did magnificently, though and it looks great! My Mom made me a hussar hat once for a school event, but it was just out of stiff paper glued together. I can only imagine how hard it was for you to sew all those layers!!!
