So excited about this dress! It started out as a rectangle of fabric I inherited from a friend who was moving and downsizing. I knew immediately what it would become, but didn’t make it until I had an event to go to that required all-white attire. Therefore, the dress was a little rushed (I found out about the event the day before!) but I am really happy with the results.
For the top I stretched out some elastic and sewed it to a finished top edge. I made a casing for the under-bust drawstring and used the fabric I cut from the hem of the dress as the drawstring. I needed to take the dress in about 6 inches in the only seam from the original width of the fabric, otherwise it was just too poofy. Added a small kick pleat, and voila! A dress!
