Perfect Plum Pencil Skirt

Added Nov 24, 2013

Toronto, Canada

Ha ha, maybe I should call this Perfect Pear Pencil Skirt! I developed this pattern from the self-drafted pattern that I used for this skirt. I pegged the hem, added a vent and finished it with a grosgrain waistband. All of the techniques I used were from Classic Tailoring Techniques by Cabrera and Tailoring: The Classic Guide to Sewing the Perfect Jacket.

I’m really happy with how it turned out! (And I think it does a pretty good job of minimizing the pear shape)

This year I took my first forray into drafting. If you’re curious to see my progress, I’ve posted regularly here.

Material Notes

I used 100% wool, bemberg lining and silk grosgrain ribbon, because I’m worth it!

Thank you! I accidentally used the wrong side of the fabric! My pattern is not symmetrical, because I have a high right hip, so once it’s cut out, there’s no flipping it around. The wrong side is almost identical to the right side, though. Whew!
