Today I finished a sewing course in which I made a sewing dummy with my exact measurements. As you can see I’m very happy to a) finally have a sewing dummy and b) that it’s also decorative!
The technique we used is a little complicated. It took us two Saturdays to do it. On the first Saturday we drew a basic bodice block, which we then adjusted quite a bit. According to that pattern we sewed the inner body from a sturdy cotton fabric. The outer cover is exactly the same as the inner cover, just prettier.
This last Saturday we filled the dummy with a pipe (to put it on a stand), foam material and sawdust (very messy!). The covers are pulled at the bottom with a string.
I don’t feel comfortable to do a tutorial, first because I didn’t come up with it myself, and second because I don’t think I remember all the steps correctly, sorry!
Edit: I don’t have a name for her yet, any suggestions?
