I love anything with cut out details and backless features just cos I think they’re really cheeky and fun. This project’s been mulling over in my head for so long, after I saw this dress by Alice Mccall After Hours but I wanted to make it my own. So I started off with a really basic bodice pattern, added darts to front and back, freehanded some short sleeves and added a longer pleated skirt (which I’m not entirely happy with, I think the back pleats should go the other way but anyway!). The mock bodice I made just to test out my pattern I accidentally made the cut out gargantuan! The bodice is fully lined, I left the skirt a bit sheer, and it does up in the back with a button with a loop and a zip. I’m pretty happy with the finished product :)

gorgeous dress! I like the cut outs of the bodice juxtaposed with the length of the skirt and the print of the fabric…really nice.

You had an original idea with the cut outs. Nice work
