I made my daughter a pear jumper because (which always seems to shock all my friends) I really like to dress her in “classic” girly clothes because she is just such a sweet little beauty, I just feel like it fits her personality.
I bought the fabric from sewtospeak, an awesome little fabric shop, you can read about it here:

I SO have to make a dress like this for my daughter! I just made my first baby dress (See Pink & Red Contest, slide show #1, picture #49) This looks like the same patten and it was SUPER easy and SUPER quick to make! LOVE LOVE LOVE the fabric

She looks so sweet in that jumper. The fabric is too cute for words. If I didn’t already look like I was a 14 year old (even though Im turning 23), I would definitely wear this fabric.

ha! who cares? people think i am in high school, even though i’m 27—because i wear “youthful” things. you’re young, do it while you can still half way get away with it!!

I absolutely love the photos’ “vintage-y” feel and you are completely right in my opinion – that kind of clothing (and you ARE a great “mami” – that jumper is so adorable) looks like it’s created for your sweet little angel! And that’s not accidental that I called her that – when I glanced for the first time on the second picture (when it was still little on the side of the main picture) it looked like she had wings attached from a costume or something- then when I opened it I saw that it was a critter on one side and her arm on the other. But I could still “see” the “angel wings” on the smaller version of that photo – do I imagine too much? ;-);-);-)

now that you say that, i can kind of see the angel wings! :) i adore her, and i think she just looks as cute as a button in classic/retro things. so i wanted to take pics that were representative of that! thanks so much!!

Love the jumper – I have a 19month old granddaughter and can’t wait to sew for her. Thanks for sharing.

ember is 21 months old—a really fun age because she squeals that everything i make her is “sooo pretty, mami!!” and makes me feel like the best mami in the world, lol.
it’s an addicting feeling, you’re going to love it! :)

OMG—I am soooo happy to see this post. Your daughter is adorable (she looks to be about my own daughter’s age), as is the jumper. More exciting for me, though, is the intro to the fabric shop in Worthington. I moved to C’bus this summer and have been trying to find a local fabric store with a (really, any) selection. I can’t wait to check Sew to Speak out in person!!
