Description

Satin dress with sheer overlay. Contrast satin waistband, straps and sash.

I tried a similar dress in a shop then ran out to buy a sketchpad and quickly drew it up. I created the bust piece myself and tweaked another dress pattern to create the skirt. I couldn’t find a matching zip so created the back with elastic from necessity. The sash was designed simply to pull it all in and create a perfect fit. I sewed bra pads in the bust at the last minute as i couldn’t find a suitable bra. My son squirted juice on the front as i was making the final touches so i had to wash and iron it – terrifying! All things considered, I’m very happy wth the result!

    Love your dress. And I’m looking at your wood floors and the keyboard in the background…It’s like my house – pine floors and we have a keyboard that my daughter plays on! And were hemispheres apart!

    Thankyou! I drew most of the pattern by hand but i adapted the skirt from KWIK SEW 3395. I’ve made a few pieces from this pattern :)
