Description

Paulina Top is a relaxed-fit top with raglan sleeves. The interest is in the double layered bodice that combines woven and knit fabric. There is also a peekaboo cut out below the armholes so you can see the woven fabric underneath. I think because of the woven material, it makes me feel more put together, even though it’s a super comfy top.

Material Notes

Materials:

-Medium weight four-way or two-way stretch knit with great recovery and good drape, such as jersey, interlock, sweater knit and rib knit, is suitable. Note that without good drape, the top may gape at the cut outs. Ideal stretch is at least 40% (able to stretch a piece of folded fabric from 4" to 5 5?8" or 10 cm to 14 cm).
-Light to medium weight woven fabric with or without stretch, such as shirting, twill, sateen, seersucker, crepe de chine and charmeuse, is suitable. Avoid using feather weight fabric as the fabric may creep up when you move. Also avoid heavy woven fabric.
-Ball-point or stretch machine needles for primary (knit) fabric; when sewing the contrast (woven) or combined fabrics, you can use a universal needle
-40" (102 cm) of 1?4"(0.6 cm)-wide clear elastic, fusible bias tape or bi-stretch interfacing to stabilize cut outs

Optional Material/Tools:

-1/8" size rolled hemmer foot for your sewing machine
-Walking foot for your sewing machine
-Serger machine
-Cover stitch machine to finish your hems
-Twin needles to finish your hems
-Wooley nylon threads to finish your hems
