This is a skirt I’ve made for a wedding in May. Fabric was a chance find on eBay, and I was just waiting for the right project!
Pattern is basic Vogue pencil skirt pattern (no. 9928), which I fitted using the Palmer-Pletsch tissue fitting method. First attempt at fitting a pattern, and really pleased with the results! A little work to be done at the waist to make it perfect, and possibly could have done with slightly more wearing ease, but I’m also of the opinion that a pencil only looks really good when it’s skin tight!
I used the lining as a test for the pattern rather than making a toile, which I can never quite get the energy for!
I also moved the zip to the back seam and added an exposed zip detail, and the grosgrain ribbon waistband (the original pattern had a side concealed zip and a self facing waistband)
Apologies that the pictures aren’t the greatest, I’m still working out the whole home studio thing!

Love this, fabric, fit, everything goes together so well. You are right the tighter the better for pencil skirts.
