Anyone’s who’s seen my Anda dress may have guessed that I’m a fan of red, white, and blue as a color combination. So here I present to you my entry in the Singer Swimsuit Cover-up contest. It’s a terry-cloth shirt dress with military-style applique accents on the front and back. There are also in-seam pockets, which I can’t get enough of (thanks once again for the tutorial BurdaStyle, it changed my life!) Sadly I didn’t get any sort of mention in the contest, but I’m still pretty pleased with the result. :)
Terry cloth, polyester (for appliques), white color snaps on the ends of each of the front appliques

I was afraid someone would ask this, because it was such a crazy mishmash! I started with the front of the basic Built By Wendy blouse pattern (the one from Sew U). I cut off the bottom third, repositioned the darts, and changed the front button opening to kind of a deep, thin V-neck. The back of the bodice, sleeves, and the collar are from two other, different patterns—Simplicity? Butterick? Can’t remember now. And the skirt is just a plain old circle skirt. I drafted it using some basic measurements from Weekend Designer as a starting point, adding in a bit more ease than was called for—my model’s pregnant, so I wanted to give her some room to grow! :)
