This past summer, two of my best friends got married and invited me to be in their wedding. All of the bridesmaids’ dresses were different, not just in style, but in the color scheme she chose: pastel rainbow, with seven people on each side, lined up in rainbow order. And it’s really difficult to find a dress off the rack that’s pastel orange, cantaloupe, creamsicle, or anything of the sort.
A note about the pattern – it’s really not cut for a large bust, which means that the waist is really boxy. I realized this after I had everything put together, so I took it in at the seams (as much as I could given the side zip), but I would really recommend adjusting the pattern beforehand. As it is, the looseness at the waist makes it gap and fold after wearing it for any length of time. Of course, boning would have helped with this – I skipped this step because I didn’t think it was necessary. Oops!
If I make this again, I think I’ll opt for a circle skirt – I liked the fullness for dancing, but they hang a little funny and add a lot of volume.
