Inspired by Burda’s sculpture dress signed by Dice Kayek, I made my first dress for the festive season. Each party requires a new outfit!
I chose the couture Bellville Sassoon pattern for Vogue, which is a lined, straight, fitted dress, below mid-knee. The dress also features short sleeves with slit, princess seamed bodice, darts in skirt, back vent and invisible zipper.
Yes, it sounds like I am describing the technical features of a Ferrari.
The fabric is quite special I believe, because I acquired it from a shop that boasts clients such as Madonna. Or so they say!
With 28 pattern pieces, some of them doubled in lining, interfacing and interlinings, it is not a projects for those who lack the patience.
Otherwise, it is not the most difficult that one could make, The bow at the back is particularly tricky, especially when you try to sew the zipper through folds and folds and bends. Ahhh, it is ready and I am very proud of it!

Definately a copy of the Vogue 1231 Bellville Sassoon pattern down to the very colour. A nice pattern but I am going to make mine in another colour

Good, luck, yes, it is V1231 itself. I had the pattern for a while, and funny enough, I bought the fabric just because it was from that famous shop. I only realised afterwards it is THE colour on the Bellville Sassoon pattern envelope!!! I hope you have better luck with that bow at the back and the way it is sewn under the zip! I left it out in the end, and sewed it by hand along the zip. Ahhh!
