My daughter decided she needed a new party dress the day before the party! She explained that I could use her purple party dress to create a pattern so that I could make a new one (her mother’s daughter for sure!) She had already earmarked the fabric from my stash! So what a bargain… stash fabric – some silky brown fabric with embroidered flowers, found in a charity shop – satin bias, pink lining and an invisible zip, all in the box!
It took me 2 hours that evening and an hour in the morning to hand slip the lining.
I actually ended up using the largest size of the bodice pattern from the Childs Summer Frock free pattern on the site… thank you suezpetersen… and traced the skirt shape from the old dress.
It all seemed like a simple idea and I was anticipating it being rushed and rubbish but quite the contrary…. it was a hit!

Thank you so much. Not that clever yet…. I need so much more practice. But that’s fine because I have a long list of projects to do!
