Another piece of fabric bought at the stitching show at the NEC in Birmingham in March. This was fancied by Daughter no1 as a pair of cropped trousers. It’s a quilting cotton… Anyways, I ran up Burda pattern 7533, which I have used quite a lot now for both daughters.
To make it suitable for a petite person I shortened it in 3 places by 5cm overall, and another 1 at the hem. This is supposed to be an “above ankle” trouser. Poor Daughter No1 had the pants sitting onthe top of her foot! So up it went again, by another 3cm. We kept a very deep hem, because she wants to be able to turn the hem up, and this was there will still be fabric on the rightside to see. I had to take the pants in quite a bit on the side down the legs, I used the 6 (32) and then took in an extra 2cm overall. Skinny minny daughters are tricky to sew for!
The inner waistband was bound with red bias binding, and I use a red zip, just to be contrary. I must admit that despite my initial concern, this fabric looks awesome as trousers, I wish I could remember the name of the shop/stall we got it from!
