I am in love with all the dresses from Dear Creatures but I don’t like spending lots of money on a dress.
This dress, inspired on the Par Avion Dress, was a real challenge to make, I could have watched three episodes of Mad men while just thinking about how to install the zipper. Would I make real button closures or just fakes ones with a side zipper? How would I make the pleats around the zipper so it wouldn’t be exposed etc etc. I even dreamt about this dress.
I made test pleats for the right width, and spent a LOT of time pinning and ironing the actual pleats, since they are double (why oh why did I chose double pleats).
I drafted the pattern myself, but used the bodice from the Belladone dress as a base.
You can see the invisible zipper puller in the front, which bums me out a little, but I really couldn’t find any better way.
I also sewed on little snapbuttons on both corners of the bodice flaps, and on one collarpiece, to hold it in place.
