Panel Dress with Studded Belt
Added Mar 5, 2014
This dress that I made is actually originated from our Princess Seam Boatneck Top sewing pattern. I loved the style of the princess seam along with the off-the-shoulder neckline, but I though it would be great as a dress instead!
It was super easy to convert into a dress and you can check out how I did so in my February Mash Up. You can also see my sewing steps, and how I DIY’d the studded belt. I am not one for making accessories (I more a clothes maker), but this was easy and quick to do.
I used this lovely patterned green fabric (which is non-stretch woven) and mixed it with a matte black stretch spandex fabric. I don’t mix those types of fabrics together often because it is tricky to sew together, but it is definitely possible and I have some tips on doing so here. I have an event Friday night and I do plan on wearing this dress, it is just perfect for dancing the night away in! I might have to reconsider the shoes though if that is the plan. This dress is a great mix of casually and dressy because it can be easily dressed up or down, it is also loved by my pug because he wanted to be photographed with it as well.
