I saw this 1940’s picture/pattern by Du Barry – style #2478B. I just had to have it!!
I tried to source this pattern but came up zilch (was prepared to pay a hefty price also)!
I drafted the bodice and used a skirt from a 70’s pattern, came out quite oK…
The style in the picture is a halterneck, I omitted due to having quite a few halterneck dresses.
This took a lot more time than I generally do to make a dress, normally my patience gets the better of me and I have to finish as soon as a start. I redid and redid my Muslim, finally happy with the fit and as they say, hey presto, another dress to my ever expanding wardrobe.
Had some piping in the stash and thought, why not?

Not sure what it’s like in Idaho but I would recommend doing a workshop/course on drafting/patternmaking. I did a one day and totally loved it, picked up quite a few tips!! I have a ton of pics as well, no looking back now! Cheers

I love it!!! Fabulous work drafting it yourself :) I have a ton of pictures of vintage patterns that I like but I’m afraid to even try the patterns that I have where I make the pieces myself
