I used some painting fabric and scotch tape to do the stripes on the back. They are not perfect but I like the way they turned out. it looks like hand made..:-)

Great! And I was thinking just yesterday night that I would paint stripes on a top for my assignment in my fashion home-study course, when I get to it. It’s a while off yet — I’ve got to find out how the loopers on overlockers work first (for assignment 1)!
P.S. Does anybody know where I can find out? There are no suitable shops nearby, so I can’t go and have a look at one.

I got an idea: Try to find books about sergers/overlockers with Google-books, there should be some. Or go to the library and borrow one :-).

I bought a used overlock that was missing the manual. I was able to download it online. My machine is a Brother 925D but I think the basic threading is similar between machines. Here’s the link: http://www.retrevo.com/support/Brother-929D-manual/id/19095dj689/t/2/

I love the slightly wonky nature of the stripes here, it gives it so much charm!

This is really nice! I love it. Just out of curiosity doesnt the paint make the fabric stiff?

This looks amazing! :D. I have one question though – does the paint fade or deteriorate after washing?

Thanks :-D ! No.. but I bought a specific paint for fabric, you need to iron the painting to fix it (like during 5minutes) before you can wash it.

I agree, imperfection is better because it gives it more individuality. I’m definitely going to have to try something like this.
