Second dress from this pattern. It’s a vintage Butterick (5448), which I also used for my Babar dress. It’s amazing how different the same pattern can look! This time I used a Pendleton wool for the top and a lycra wool blend for the bottom. I can’t seem to stay away from this color combination lately. Embellished it with hand painted details on the collar, pockets and buttons. Very nerve-wracking, but well worth the result.

I love it all. I would wear that dress – in a much bigger size – but I love it.

I love this special ‘rifka style’ too! :-) Can’t believe that you have painted the fabric – which kind of paint did you use? I am wondering whether mashine wash would be possible after using the colour?

Thank you. Everyone’s kind words are so encouraging!
I use Jacquard Textile Color and have had good results with it in the wash. This dress will have to be dry cleaned as it’s wool, but I have used the same paint on other garments which have been through the wash many times.

The angles of the dress are stunning, and so 60’s looking, almost like a plane stewardess! I would love that dress in the winter too!

Great job! The white detail is very well done… looks like the buttons and the blue fabric came like that :)
