Have you ever made a dress because it is what the material wanted?!!!
I was given this delicate tablecloth material (still in the form of a table cloth) and couldn’t imagine doing anything with it except to make EXACTLY this dress…..shame I would never wear it!
I lined the bodice and then got in a mess as couldn’t remember which seams I ought to join up first in order to make it turn rightside out when it was sewn. Because of my mistake I have had to split open the shoulder seams and resew the lining there by hand. I am not skilled at button holes so made little button loops and found some vintage glass buttons that I got from a vide grenier in the summer. I am pleased with the overall effect even although the bits that don’t show aren’t as neat as I would have liked them to be!
scalloped edge, crushed, satiny, synthetic material…a tablecloth in a previous life!

Thank you! The bodice is from a pattern I bought ages ago and then I added a gathered skirt. The back does up with little loops because I am too useless at buttonholes!!!
