This is the fist time that I ever actually traced a pattern out of Burda Style Magazine. It was not as daunting a task as I thought it would be. (More info about the whole project on my blog www.chrissyweeks.com).
I fall in the pit between “regular” or “misses” sizes and “plus” sizes. This dress pattern is plus sized. I cut the smallest size and had to take it in. The kimono sleeves are super cute and neckline is nice for Fall / Winter. Overall it is a nice dress. But if I make is again I will use a different fabric.
I used a pin whale corduroy, in brown and burgundy. To be honest I had planned to use all brown but ran out of fabric while I was cutting and decided to add a little flair to the dress with the contrasting burgundy. It is an interesting dress but because of the colors is hard to style. The picture of the dress in gray is the one from the magazine. A solid color would be easier to figure out shoes!
