I made this shawl for my godmother’s xmas present . I actually already owned the blue shawl ,but I’d barely used it so it was good as new. I used a lovely book of oriental motifs which i picked up on of my scavenging hunts round the charity shops . I traced the motif onto tracing paper using a special transfer pencil , I then transferred the image onto the shawl with the heat of an iron . This is the first time I have used a transfer for embroidery and Im delighted with the results . It was so much easier to be neat with the outlines already on the fabric . Ideally I would have added more motifs but I was needing to get on to the next xmas gift ! lol
Pashmina shawl , embroidery floss in assorted colours( i found using just three strands at a time made a neater finish ) , tracing paper ,needle, motif book , transfer pencil .and an iron . I would recommend you think carefully what colour of transfer pencil you buy as it has to show up against the fabric you're using . I made the mistake of buying a pink one which was too faint for my shawl . Oh and an embroidery hoop is essential .
