Description

Wings which are suitable for adults and older children. I have made a few of these over the years as I used to sell them from a craft stall which my sisters and I ran. These ones were kept for family.

Material Notes

Crystal organza, with zigzag stitch to create the veins. I tried a straight stitch but it didn’t really work. Shop bought cloth flowers and 2cm. wide elastic straps.

Difficulty

The instructions are here now. Please excuse the crude illustrations and I hope it all makes sense. Best Wishes, Lynnette

Thank you all for the very kind remarks. I am in the process of writing a tutorial for the wings. I have realised that the vital component which I have omitted from the material notes is that the structure of the wings is a sheet of acetate between two layers of organza, which is all stitched together. The lack of wire makes them entirely safe and the acetate adds to the reflective iridescent effect. More details on the way :o)

These are fantastic! Are they held stable with a wire frame or just stiffened fabric?

Beautiful, my little girl would love these. Please look into a tutorial/ instructions and advise whether you use wire for the structure. These are fab. Better than the commercial ones by a mile.

These are amazing! Is there wire running through the veins, or just the zig-zag stitch? I’d love to have a go making a pair.

These are gorgeous. I wish you would provide a tutorial. Halloween is around the corner and man do I have some girls who would love a pair (probably not that professional looking but I would still try).

Thank you so much. I have no idea how tutorials work but it is something I should look into. Thanks for the suggestion.
