This is my first Burda Style pattern (actually, from Burda magazine). I love how the gathered back of the blouse looks with the fitted skirt.
I ended up altering the neckline, however, removing the Peter Pan collar. I like the original collar, but I felt it might be too much with the graphic West African fabric I used.
Overall, I really like the dress, and would like to make another, perhaps with a more subdued pattern. I’ve got more details on my blog Daughter Fish

I’m envoius :( The back part of your dress looks actually great and brings out waistline. Mine looked too poofy :(

I just popped over and looked at yours. It’s lovely. The back of mine is pretty poofy, too, but that’s the part I love best:)

I enjoy most the way the set of flowers on the hip is cut off by the grey of the bodice! So form fitting, lovely. Great work.

Thanks so much! It’s fun learning to piece together prints in a flattering way. I guess that’s a big reason to learn to sew. This type of things is often overlooked in store-bought clothing.

Very elegant! I love the blousing effect, I wasn’t so convinced at first. It enhanced your graceful neck! Good choice to remove the Peter pan collar!

Thanks so much! The fabric is really turning out to be a great choice. It’s getting so hot here in NYC, and it’s breathable! I’ve been experimenting with the back blousing on some other things and really like it!

I love this fabric! I wasn’t sure about the volume at the back when I saw it on Burda but it looks great here. It works really well without the collar. Where did you find this amazing fabric?

Thank you! I bought the fabric at one of the discount fabric shops in Manhattan. You’re in England, right? If you’re ever in NYC I can direct you to the shop (I don’t think they have a website). But the shop owner told me it is from Benin.

WOW – I love this dress! The print is amazing. I did like this dress in the magazine but I think your version without the peter pan collar is even better!

Thank you! I saw the poofy back of this dress and had to make it! I’m not good with a lot of stuff around the neck, so the peter pan collar had to go (even though I think it’s a cute addition). Thanks again!
