I made a maxi dress for the summery weather. I based the top part off of a tank top and then put in the skirt with pleats at the front and back center. I think it would have worked better using simple gathering all the way around. This fabric was not especially cooperative! The seam between the top and skirt sections did not come out nicely, so I added the tie around the waist. This was for sure a learning experience dress, but I hope to get some good use out of it this summer! Also, since I’m crazy about headbands, I made a simple braided one out of some scraps to wear with the dress.
It was marked as "t-shirt fabric" - very stretchy and comfy

This is awesome. I would love to make a dress like it. About how much fabric did it require?

I absolutely LOVE this – so flattering and the tie really makes the dress I think. I’m really excited to try something made in jersey now, the stretchiness has made me nervous so far…

I love the tie! I think it adds so much, the problem with the waist seam turned out to be a blessing in disguise!

this is my new favourite!!! I love everything about it – the cut on the top, the colour, the tie, the fabric. It’s simply beautiful. I’m going to go out asap ang pick up some jersey to make one for myself. One question though: on the top, did you line it with the same fabric? just wondering how you got such clean lines on the openings. THANKS!

I love the orange, it’s so summery and the pleats I think ws a better choice with the belt, very nice.

So seventies – in the best way ever. The pleats are very nice, and more flattering than gathers would have been. Very cute, anyway.
