My second Marie skirt.
Made from a small piece of orange velvet (op-shopped). I didn’t have enough fabric left to make the waistband/waistband facing or hem facing. So I used an old tie (op-shopped). And just turned the hem under and made a few notches so that that worked with the curve.
My first Marie makes me feel a bit hippy, so I altered the pattern so the back is pleatless – two pieces with a centre zipper and darts. I also added a slit in the centre backto try and make getting in and out of the car easier!
I like that the colours are quite autumnal – it is getting chilly in Canberra!
Velvet of unknown fabric composition and silk tie.
