I used design elements from my favorite RTW t-shirt to modify an existing pattern. The seam allowances in the yoke overlap creating texture when the knit rolls. I amplify this effect by adding narrow strips of contrasting fabric to yoke edges. Sleeves and bottom edge are not hemmed so the fabric will roll.
The body is bamboo/cotton, shoulder/yoke area is 100% cotton, and neckband the star and yoke contrasting strips are rayon/lycra/cotton blend.

Really like the yoke (and the rest), somehow a ‘bastardized’ (can’t find the right term) US Navy top. Great aesthetic

Good job; I like the star. You gave it the look of reverse applique, like molas from Guatemala. Cordially, Nehmah

Great colour, and great star! At first I thought that you sewed on two t-shirts and then cut out thin stripes… Love your idea anyway!:)

Thanks! Yes, steal my idea, I used plain white glue to hold the yoke pieces together while I sewed instead of pesky pins. To hold the applique star down I used a glue stick then stitched.
