Description

I found this amazing fabric in my grandma’s fabric stash. I thought it needed a very slim silhouette, and a long length to keep it vintage looking. I used Vogue 8184. It is fully lined with a heavy cotton and an internal layer of boning to give it a lot of structure. It even stands on it’s own. It’s very forgiving and comfortable to wear. I think the belt came out really nice, I’ve worn it with other outfits.

Material Notes

Cotton blend from grandma’s stash, cotton lining, belting, metal buckle and eyelets

Thanks. She’s awesome, she has closets full of cloth.

You’ll need to do some more digging :) I have some pieces from my one Gramma’s stash. One, my #4 daughter has claimed. Another, I’ve worked part of into a quilt.

I was trying to reply and I think I marked you as inappropriate. I’m sorry. I was going to say a quilt is a really nice idea for grandma’s cloth. It’ll probably stay in the family for a long time.

That’s what I’m hoping for. Most of the fabrics in the quilt are scraps from the many dresses I sewed for my daughters when they were little (and a few from boy-sewing for my son).
      I’m calling it “Mama’s Memories”.

This is lovely! The fit is also so nice. Did you draft this pattern yourself?

Thanks. I haven’t learned pattern making yet. It’s Vogue 8184. I couldn’t find it when I was writing the post.
