Column dress adapted from McCalls pattern #6460. The dress was for a recent evening wedding. My inspiration was a dress Katie Couric wore on a recent special about the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. I made many fit and style alterations to the dress that included: eliminating all front and back darts, redesigning the sleeves, adding tucking to the front neckline, adding a kick pleat to the back, adding lining and overall fit adjustments. I made several muslin trials to ensure fit and style.
I used the wrong side of an inexpensive summer satin material and “Ambiance” polyester lining.
