I really love the Cynthia Rowley patterns for Simplicity, and I think this one is my absolute fave. It’s amazing that something with open shoulders and that huge slit down the back still comes off as casual and a little sophisticated. You’d think the shoulders would be tricky to sew, but the instructions are excellent, so the whole project was really straightforward. I think next summer I’ll try the sleeveless variation.
I used a cotton batik (LOVE this print!) which feels a little starchy, but is wearing in really nicely, and getting much softer. I highly recommend this pattern.
Blue and green cotton batik from Fabric Depot in Portland. They always have an excellent selection of batiks in rayon and cotton!
