We’ve bought a midsleeper and could only find a transport themed curtain but the room is space themed. Since found one on line but it was £50 and we can only use the front one. We also want the space under the bed to be usable, it’s a small room and we thought it would make a great den. I’ve been practicing my applique although now I’ve got to put some on a headboard and well it would be daft to leave the curtains plain. Especially as I was really lucky, I made the curtains from an Ikea pair, the off cuts I saved and one was the exact width of the bed space, the other I’ll use for the headboard and possibly a bed pocket.
I was going to appliqu small felt stars onto the background until I found some gold sequin stars in my ‘pretty box’ I was going to use the machine but it would have taken me time to set it up and then hide the threads so I just did them by hand, making sure they weren’t all done in the same way so they twinkle. Love it, it’s got the wow factor and really makes the room.
Old curtain, felt and scraps. Particularly love the matallic materials on the visor, windows and planet rings.

As the curtain was lined you can’t see any of the stitching when you are in the den, not that he’ll worry about that but a friends husband thins I should put a large bit of moon on the back so it looks like you’re sat on the planet, but then my hubby wants an earth rising- bit difficult but with some gold lame I can do an eclipse :-)
