I did not use a pattern (still not loving all the work that goes into using one) for the dress but just drew it out and started cutting. The fabric is turned horizontally to create the border at the bottom. I cut strips of the black & yellow “stripes” from the fabric and sew them together to make the top of the dress. It is an empire waist gathered slightly with elastic, one shoulder gathered to one side.
It is shown worn with a belt made from the same fabric & tied at the back. The last photo is of the actual Valli dress that inspired my dress.
I totally enjoyed making this dress and I love the way it turned out.

Oh I absolutely ADORE ankara and other wax prints! This dress is beautiful, I love love the bodice and the contrast & coordination (in true ankara style) between it and the skirt. I look forward to seeing more of your Fabulous Ankara creations.
