I kept noticing recently the number of really cute items people where posting where they referenced a Japanese sewing book as the source for the pattern. So I decided to do a little research myself on these lovely books and then I became really intrigued and ordered a couple for myself. They are such beautiful books and I really love the simple aesthetic of the clothes BUT as a 5ft 8 inch female its going to be somewhat of a challenge for me to take the patterns and scale them to garments that fit my proportions! This little white cotton number I am wearing is a simple cross over top that comes from “One Day Sewing, project # 32”. I lined it in a bright blue voile, which you can see through the eyelets but doesn’t really show in the photos. I made a prototype first but I think I should have been more particular with the fit and proportion as when I made the real version I was a bit unhappy with how loose it came out so I ended up making a belt to go under the bust line to pull it in a bit and give it a bit of a better silhouette. I’m pretty happy with how it came out but its not exactly what I was hoping for but all in all, good experience for when I decide to tackle another project from one of these books.
White eyelet cotton for the body and blue voile for the lining.

Thanks for your nice comments, I agree mistakes are a very useful part of the learning process and can sometimes really work out well!
