Description

I wanted to make a comfy and casual everyday sweatshirt, which is not quite ordinary, but has some nice details. Luckily I found this pattern in Wenlan Chias book called Twinkle Sews (project: on the sidelines). At first I was a little scared because this “simple” sweatshirt has 14 different pattern pieces! But it really was not difficult and somehow reminded me on puzzles. ;) I like this pattern a lot because it gives you option for endless variation. I used some Japanese fabric (Lecien) that I had left for the bottom pocket and also decided to make matching buttons. Fun project and fun sweatshirt! :)

    Hi Nettevivante,

It’s been a while since you posted this review, but I am hoping you will still receive message when someone posts a message here.

I am trying to make this top as well. I think the instruction is incorrect when talking about the “back neckline facing” and “front neckline facing”. The instruction says that these pieces are number 13. But I believe they are actually the same pieces for “back neckline” and “front neckline”? And then I am puzzled as to what to do with the actual number 13 pattern piece.

    Could you help and explain?

    Would really appreciate your help!!!!

Hi Kennis, I had to look at my own finished top once again, because I just couldn’t remember. But I think you are right. ‘back/front neckline facing’ are definitely the same pieces as ‘back/front neckline’. I guess, I simply skipped number 13 pattern piece. Couldn’t find it on my sweater! :) Hope this helps!

Ah I just bought fabric to make this same top – yours turned out amazing! I love that bright red.

Did you find the fit was weird or anything? I am a bit confused about the sizing… Take your measurements, add 2 inches and then another 3-5" for seam allowances, even though the pattern already has seam allowances??? Very confusing!

      Thank you! :)

Yes, I was confused at first, too! But I simply ignored this instruction and looked on the size chart only to decide on the size. In addition, I did not add another seam allowance, as you are right. There is already some printed on the pattern. Luckily it turned out fitting good! The only thing I had to alternate myself was the bottom band. The given one was too loose for me.

Looking forward to see your version! :)

I am planning to make this too, but haven’t got round to shop for the right kind of fabric yet. The red looks fabulous on you, also the finish of the top bit with the covered buttons. Can I ask what size you made?
