This was a project for fashion school – Fall 2011. We were all required to use the same cap-sleeved dress pattern in my introductory sewing class, so I decided to push the envelope. I hand-dyed stretch linen to make a dusty plum ombre, and used a Bemberg rayon lining on the inside. Many late nights were spent on beading! The shoulders are beaded with 11/0 seed beads in an assortment of matte silver, rocaille, and clear/AB finishes, and the hemline is beaded with mother-of-pearl rondells, 11/0 and 6/0 seed beads in lavender, dark gray, rocaille, and iris finish.
