I completed Colette Pattern’s Negroni shirt for my husband. The pattern was excellent with extremely thorough diagrams and instructions. I was a little nervous about the pattern style-wise because it has facings rather than a button placket and a convertible collar rather than a regular collar with collar stand. My husband wasn’t too keen on the collar when I got him to try it on mid-process, but the end result was entirely satisfactory and I think he really likes the extra substance added by the facing!
I made a few little additions to the pattern including shoulder details and grosgrain ribbon underneath the buttons. I also topstitched the facing down at centre front just to make double sure that it wouldn’t peek out or cause problems by flapping around a little when putting the shirt on.
I’ve made up a tutorial/explanation of how to add the shoulder details and ribbon to the Negroni pattern. You can check it out, along with a ton more photos on my blog: Thread Theory

Thanks so much! Now the real test is to see how often the Negroni gets taken out of his closet :)
