I’ve had this lace collar in my box for AGES just waiting for the right project to come along – my mum gave it to me and said she’d had it passed down to her but hadn’t ever used it and when I saw the peplum top in a recent Burda I knew I could finally put it to good use, and here’s my finished product.
It’s a great pattern to use, lovely and easy to follow and the design gives such a lovely silhouette I think.
I used a wool fabric with some stretch to it, originally meaning to avoid having to add the zipper but decided to add one anyway as I didn’t want to start stretching it out of shape. It was a brilliant fabric to work with and as it doesn’t fray there was no need to do any hemming or overlocking – wahay!
Did plan to put a silk lining to the body part even though the pattern didn’t call for it to help keep its shape and to avoid perspiration marks but was lazy and decided to just wear a vest underneath instead. (It’s too flipping cold for any risk of perspiration at the moment anyway).
I loved the black and white used in the original so very unimaginatively just copied them.
