Dainty blue cotton dress made up from a vintage Simplicity pattern (6193) from my Gran’s stash. The fabric has sort of a berry-ish pattern on it and it’s quite light and airy. It sewed up quickly and easily except that I had to take it in quite a bit and I didn’t alter the collar right the first time and I just BARELY had enough fabric for a second go – whew! It almost had no collar! :)
Note: please pardon the bad hair day – ha! I couldn’t wait to take photos; it was such a pretty day!
Blue, patterned cotton. Invisible zipper. Hook and Eye closure on collar.

Very nice dress – one that could be made a few times I recon. Good job.

Thank you so much – I have a weakness for that kind of dusty deep blue… AND it was on sale for $1/yard at the amazing Sir’s Fabrics store in TN!

I love it. It looks so pretty on you too. Great pictuers :) I also have a great collection of vintage dress patterns. But I haven’t been daring enough to try one yet. Thanks for the inspiration!

Thanks!! They’re my first set-in sleeves, so I was very nervous putting them in… one is a tiny bit off, but it’s not in a noticeable place, so no one needs to know, right??? :)

The photos are fun…I can see that you and the photog had fun with the denim and the blues theme. Not sure I would dig in the garden with such a pretty dress on, but it’s a great shot. And no, I have no denim colored towels in my collection.

Hee – thanks! The photog is my husband. The towels are my mother-in-law’s. We were making her a garden for mother’s day… um, I didn’t actually do any of the work in the dress, though! ;)

Simply darling! I have been on the hunt for a sweet little dress pattern that didn’t fall into the “New Look” category, and this could be it! You are so lucky to have a sewing gran with a stash to peruse :)

Oh, thank you!! Yes, it’s Simplicity 6193 (This one: http://www.flickr.com/photos/graustark/5482002298/) I have a size 10 pattern, but I realized partway into the project that it was quite a bit too big – hence the altering issues!
