I made this dress using a pattern from the Burdamode-website. I was a lot of work to line up the swirling stripes of the embroidery, but I kind of did it. The buttons I used are mother-of-pearl buttons passed down to me through the family. They were once used by my grandfather’s aunt. I really like continuing what appears to have been her habit of re-using fastenings
black and white embroidered cotton (broderie anglaise), mother-of-pearl buttons

I have also made this dress, but I made it in purple. Yours looks great, it’s funny how much fabric choices can do since our dresses look completey different.

Cute dress! Gonna make it red with heart buttons when I get time for it. I did some burdamode.com patterns, and they are terrific! For free and have a nice fit. My only problem is that the european size 40 is a lot larger than the 40 here in Brazil. So I wasted a lot of fabric until I adapted well the size. They could sell all of the patterns in .pdf format! They don’t deliver to Latin America.

It’s pattern nr. 127 and you can find it on burdamode.com if you go to the ‘downloads’-page. It’s on there, with the free downloads (there’s only one dress, so you can’t miss it) The website is in German, but it has buttons on the top right to select another language. A little warning: as far as I could find, the sewing instructions only come in German. But it’s a fairly easy pattern, so I didn’t really look at those.

Wow— I’d seen the pattern on the website and didn’t think much of it until now. This is great- love the elegant neckline.

It looks lovely. I’ve downloaded that pattern from Burdamode as well, but I haven’t made it up yet. You did a great job matching up those stripes.
