So the challenge was set and what better occasion to start with than a wedding. May 18th I went to a family wedding and decided I was going to make my own frock.
I bought a pattern, a trusty Butterick pattern, for a fitted dress with a full skirt. I also invested in this frock and bought some incredibly gorgeous fabric from a seller on Etsy, Modernality Fabrics (http://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/ModernalityFabrics). I would seriously recommend them, the fabric is beautiful quality and just wonderful to work with and wear.
Quite often when I start sewing time stops and I look up to find it is dark and I haven’t even noticed the hours that have been flying past me. I therefore for this project did not take any ‘in progress’ photographs, but I will be sure to in future!
After a few Sundays and numerous evenings getting in and out of the dress I successfully managed to make it, line it and adjust it to fit me perfectly.
I absolutely love the dress and felt wonderful wearing it. I am now officially inspired to make as many of my own clothes as possible.
